OUR HISTORY: Jeremy Kriek qualified in 1988 as a Medical Orthotist and Prosthetist from T.U.T. (Tshwane University of Technology) in Pretoria, South Africa. He spent the following year at Bloemfontein National Hospital, completing his Prosthetic Orthotic Internship. In 1989 Jeremy transferred Wentworth Hospital in Durban, where he worked in the Orthotic & Prosthetic Services Department. Shortly after this, he was conscripted to the South African National Defence Force for Compulsory National Military Service. After basic military training, Jeremy was deployed to SANDF’s One Military Hospital – Pretoria, to work in their Orthopaedic Department. He attended to soldiers who had been injured on the Boarder, and evacuated to One Military for attention. He was required to make orthotic and prosthetic items for wounded soldiers.
After completing military service in 1991, Jeremy returned to civilian life and his previous job at Wentworth Hospital. That year he met his future wife Tracy Moore, whom he married in 1993. In 1997 Jeremy established his Private Practice, Jeremy Kriek & Son. In 1998 Tracy joined the practice as Jeremy’s secretary. That same year they bought their practice building at 442 Clark Road.
As the Practice continued to grow, so did the staff requirements. Jeremy employed a Workshop Assistant and a secretary, which allowed Tracy to focus on the ever growing demands of the Admin. Department and became the Practice Accounts Manager. Over a period of 27 years, Jeremy’s patient base has steadily grown, due to his motto; “The Patient’s comfort and satisfaction is my primary concern“. Jeremy is not satisfied until the patient is completely confident and able to function fully with the orthotic or prosthetic item he has made for them. As a result of Jeremy’s work ethic, his Practice continues to operate successfully, with “Word of Mouth” his best advert. Jeremy has gained the reputation of “always putting his patients wellbeing first, before all else“, by Surgeons, Nurses, GP’s, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapists and his O&P colleagues.
