Jeremy Kriek & Son Inc. is a Medical Orthotic & Prosthetic Practice. We attend to patients from all walks of life, ages and medical conditions.
We supply “Off the Shelf” Orthotic items, as well as Custom Made Orthotic and Prosthetic external appliances for the body. These include but are not limited to; Custom Made Arch Supports, Back, Neck, Leg Bracing & Callipers. Back Corsets, Compression Stockings and many other orthotic items and equipment. We supply Wheel Chairs, Walking frames and Home Nursing assistive devices.
We custom make Prosthetic Limbs for the Public & Private Health Care, as well as for Private Patients. Our main concern is your comfort, and to help you regain your confidence and ability to walk again.
We have a qualified female Orthotist Prosthetist at our practice. She discreetly consults with ladies who are looking for an External Breast Prosthesis, following a Mastectomy as a result of breast cancer. Our O&P will measure and help the patient find the correct fitting Breast Prosthesis. We also supply the related Prosthetic Bra, which helps to hold the prosthesis in place. Your individual needs and aesthetic comfort is paramount.
Medical Legal Services
We write Medical Legal Reports, as required by patients Legal Counsel. Jeremy assesses and consults with the lawyers client, in order to provide them with an accurate Medical Legal Report. Jeremy makes himself available to be a Medico-Legal Witness when required.
What is Medico-Legal Expert and Report: A medico-legal report is written by a qualified medical professional in the role of a Medical Expert Witness in a legal case. Medical Reports are required in civil law claims for damages for victims of personal injury, disease or medical negligence.
Jeremy Kriek qualified at TUT (Tshwane University of Technology) Pretoria in 1988, with a Diploma in Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics. He spent the following year at Bloemfontein National Hospital in order to complete his internship.
In 1989 Jeremy was transferred to the Orthopaedic Services Department at Wentworth Hospital in Durban. During this time at Wentworth, he was called up for compulsory National Military Service, this included spending a year at One Military Hospital, Pretoria, attending to wounded soldiers in the Orthopaedic Services Department. After military service Jeremy returned to his position at Wentworth Hospital.
In 1997 Jeremy established his private practice of Jeremy Kriek & Son, which he continues to run successfully.
The practice is at the corner of Clark and South Ridge Road, Berea. It is conveniently situated at the intersection between St.Augustine’s Hospital and Entabeni Hospital, overlooking the beautiful Port Harbour of Durban.
